I have passed through Sary-Tash twice, both times en-route to Kashgar in China. It is a pleasant place with white-washed walls and friendly, dirty little teahouses. Above is the fantastic wall of the Pamir Plateau, looming at enormous heights above the green valley.

The road to Tajikistan goes south (straight) while the road to Kashgar turns east (left).
