(VI) Shuttle Columbia
   

I am a little hesitant to provide an explanation for the "Shuttle Columbia" series, so I shall limit this to a few short notes:

This is not a soppy memorial. This is a commentary. It is a perverse fact that pyrotechnic destruction is often beautiful to watch. The crew of the Shuttle Columbia experienced fiery death. The rest of us experienced a shooting star.

Destruction and beauty become entangled, sometimes. Death and art are interlocked. The same fire that burns, simultaneously sheds a light.

And although we know that the Shuttle Columbia fell, at the same time we know that the Shuttle Columbia flew. . .
